MOLL Batterien GmbH Delighted by Visit from District Administrator Christian Meißner
District Administrator Christian Meißner visited MOLL Batterien GmbH in Bad Staffelstein on March 9, 2023. In conversation with the company management, he emphasized the importance of the traditional company for the district of Lichtenfels: "MOLL is a significant employer in the region and a showcase for the district of Lichtenfels with its innovations."The management of MOLL, consisting of Prof. Dr. Peter Urban and Managing Director Dr. Klaus Eichhorn, provided insight into the company's plans, upcoming investments, and innovations. MOLL produces batteries for various applications, primarily for the automotive industry. At the Bad Staffelstein location, around 220 employees and trainees are currently employed.MOLL is a development partner for the automotive industry and has set milestones for the development of modern starter batteries (e.g., batteries for the start-stop function). The company was founded in 1945 by Peter J. Moll and his wife Elisabeth and has developed into an expert in battery technology and an important partner for the automotive industry over the decades.After insolvency in March 2020, there was a new beginning with new investors at the Bad Staffelstein location on May 1, 2021. Already in 2021, MOLL Batterien GmbH was able to return to profitability. In the coming years, significant investments will be made in the machine park to increase productivity and energy efficiency, optimize working conditions, and reduce CO2 emissions."We have a very good research and technology department," emphasized Prof. Dr. Urban. "The success of MOLL is the success of all employees." The main sales focus for MOLL batteries is currently the replacement market and export business, particularly with the Volkswagen Group.MOLL will continue to be at the forefront of battery technology and invests in research and development. "We assume that our modern starter batteries, which contribute significantly to reducing CO2 emissions from vehicles, will also be needed after 2035," said Managing Director Dr. Klaus Eichhorn.District Administrator Christian Meißner was pleased with the positive development of the company: "I am very pleased that it has been possible to get the company back on track and steer it towards a hopeful future after the turbulence."
