Mario Schönwald is not just the mayor, he's also a father himself. No wonder he had so much fun with the children in the music school's "early musical education" program. "He got the instruments for you!" Mayor Schönwald indicated, pointing to Professor Peter Urban. And that wasn't all.
From his granddaughter – who has grown bigger now – the Professor had brought along a musical piano mat to step on. He cheerfully explained that it was no longer needed as he watched the children trying it out.
The "Chief" of MOLL company has also made it possible to recently purchase 1,216 euros worth of instruments for the Municipal Singing and Music School: triangles, cymbals, hand drums, tambourines, a timpani, and much more. Additionally, a colorful round carpet was purchased for the children's sitting circle.
"We know that Dr. Urban has a heart for children," Mayor Schönwald expressed his gratitude for the donation. Petr Horejsi, the new director of the Singing and Music School, was also delighted: "What the Professor has given would not have been possible for the next two years," he said gratefully. The new Singing and Music School is currently undergoing restructuring. Nine teachers provide instruction here. Currently, 37 children aged four and above are learning the basics of music.
The Music School was founded on November 1, 1985, explains Petr Horejsi, "Which means we'll be celebrating our fortieth anniversary next year." 2025 will be entirely dedicated to the school's 40th "birthday." The program offerings will also be expanded: next year will include vocal training and recorder lessons for preschool children.
And Petr Horejsi will continue his search: for small donations to acquire teaching and learning materials, but also to find photographic materials. Anyone who has photos, pictures, or reports from the early years of the Staffelstein Music School – or even from later periods – is encouraged to contact him.
