On Tuesday, March 22, Mayor Mario Schönwald visited one of the largest employers in the city of Bad Staffelstein.
He was received by the management of MOLL and the Chairman of the Works Council, Patrick Werner. During a tour of the plant and in conversation with employees, the Mayor gained a personal impression of the production and working conditions at MOLL after the restart in May 2021: "It's good to see that MOLL has been able to maintain its 240 jobs and training positions. MOLL is an important employer in the region," said Schönwald. The management of MOLL informed Mayor Schönwald about the upcoming investments of 3 million euros in new machines to improve energy efficiency, increase productivity, and optimize working conditions. "As the city of Bad Staffelstein, we will support and accompany the upcoming investments in the further sustainability of MOLL within the framework of our possibilities," said Schönwald. MOLL Batterien GmbH produces batteries for various applications, primarily for the automotive industry. At the Bad Staffelstein location, approximately 240 employees and trainees are currently employed. MOLL is a development partner for the automotive industry and has set milestones for the development of modern starter batteries (e.g., batteries for the start-stop function). MOLL started with new investors on May 1, 2021, and already returned to profitability in 2021. Over the next three years, significant investments will be made in the machine park to increase productivity and energy efficiency, optimize working conditions, and reduce CO2 emissions. The main sales focus is on the replacement market and export business, including the Volkswagen Group, which supplies factories of Skoda, Seat, Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche.
